Feed My Sheep

Affirm your faith! Act your faith! Live your faith! These were the words of our God – fearing speaker, Dr. Duthenes during our annual church conference, as he encouraged everyone to persevere through their struggles by turning their faith into action. You who believes in the Lord … who knows Him deeply … who serves Him wholeheartedly … who seeks Him earnestly … are you living your faith?

Did you know?

 * Two-thirds of the world’s population live on less than $10 international per day and half a billion people are projected to live in extreme poverty in 2030.

* Approximately 792 million people lived with a mental illness in 2017; that is more than one in ten people globally (10.7%).

* Countless children are victims of  psychological violence, sexual abuse, homicide, school bullying, child labor, sex trafficking, and child marriages around the world, especially in impoverished and violent countries.

We get so caught up in our own lives that we normally forget what God has called us to do. Our mission as Bible – believing Christians is to spread the Good News of the Gospel by preaching and living it. My aunt often says, “How can I tell someone God loves them when they are suffering and in need?” So true! It is difficult to preach the Gospel to people who cannot see God at work in their own lives.

The word tells us in James 2:15-16 (NLT) “Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, ‘Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well’ – but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?” God wants you to tend to His sheep, that is how many will come to know Him.

Again, in Jeremiah 22:16 (NLT), while complementing Josiah’s good deeds, God declared “He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him. Isn’t that what it means to know me?” If you truly love God, then you will love the people of God. And if you truly love God’s people, then you will help them. Do you realize that you were spared from the enemy’s afflictions so that through you God could save others?

You must do your part. “The harvest is great, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37, NLT). It is not the world’s responsibility to do something about this, it is yours! God gave YOU those opportunities. He placed His Spirit inside of YOU. He is convicting YOU through this message. Do not delay by waiting on the world because the world is waiting on YOU.

Is life not worth more than plentiful pleasures and the pursuit of self-interest? Thrive in what God has given you, but never forget to reach out your hand to those who have less than you. Do you truly live the Gospel you preach? Talk is cheap, but the price God paid for you was quite expensive. Dear Gem, how can you live out your faith today?
